Ecto discus (エクトディスカス Ekutodisukasu ) are creatures encountered in Episode 1 of Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon: Remake. They are able to attach themselves to the walls of the ruins. When disturbed, the ecto discus will fly away from the wall. They have the ability to spit out a substance that resembles amoebas. This substance will multiply when shot with the gun.
The ecto discus is immune to gunfire. It can only be killed by the dragon's homing lasers.[1]
Appearance[]
Ecto discus resemble dark teal starfish. In the original Panzer Dragoon, they have twelve arms, while in Panzer Dragoon: Remake, they have 10. The ecto discus in the original game also have a red circle in the middle of their body, which has lines that extend to each of the creature's arms. The remake's ecto discus instead has a red membrane outlining its body.
Another feature added to Panzer Dragoon: Remake's ecto discus is that the substance they produce is visible on their underside before they use it to attack. The substance also appears slightly different than the original game. It now has a honeycomb pattern overlayed on top of it, making it resemble a force field, but not giving it any new abilities. Concept art of the ecto discus, as well as the carnivorous flower, was first posted on the official Panzer Dragoon: Remake Twitter account in December 2019.[2]
