Imperial Flying Stronghold PDR

The Imperial Flying Stronghold in Panzer Dragoon: Remake.

The Imperial Flying Stronghold is the Episode 5 boss in Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon: Remake. It is a large battleship with two float engines. One engine causes the ship to become airborne, and another one helps to balance it. The main body of the ship cannot be damaged, as it is made out of rock. However, the joint between the engine and main body is weak. This is the weak point of the ship. In 89 AF, it had the greatest firepower of any of the Empire's battleships.[1]

This is the second of three boss battles in the game that have two phases. The first is the Prototype Imperial Assault Ship, and the third is the final battle with the Prototype Dragon when played on Hard Mode.

Appearance[]

Imperial Flying Stronghold

The Imperial Flying Stronghold's red-colored cannons in the original game.

The Imperial Flying Stronghold is a large ship with three rows of rotating cannons in between a large float engine and a smaller float engine. In the original Panzer Dragoon, these cannon rows are red, while in Panzer Dragoon: Remake, they appear to be copper. In Panzer Dragoon: Remake, some ropes and extra metal parts were added to the ship. The part of the ship that was originally depicted as being made of rock in the original game now seems to be just one large float engine. In the second phase of the boss battle, it drops the destroyed cannons into the forest, flips over sideways, and starts firing mines.

The Grig Orig, which appears in Panzer Dragoon Saga, has a similar appearance to the Imperial Flying Stronghold.
