Each of the following codes should be entered on the main menu, where you can choose between “Normal Game” (or “Easy Game” or “Hard Game”) and “Options”. When a code is entered correctly, you’ll hear the sound that the dragon makes when it gets hit. If a code takes you to a different screen when it’s entered - such as the Episode Select cheat - the game difficulty that’s displayed when you finish entering the code will be the difficulty you play at.

Access the Unlockable Features[]

At the main menu, enter the code Up, X, Right, Y, Down, Z, Left, Y, Up, X. You’ll now be able to access the extras detailed on the Unlockable Features page without fulfilling the necessary conditions; you’ll be able to use the two alternative guns, the two new kinds of homing lasers, and you’ll be able to enter the button code that lets you play as only the dragon. Also, when this cheat is active, the Sega logo man that appears in one of the intro animations will be a polygonal woman instead.

On a PC keyboard, the code is Up, A, Right, S, Down, D, Left, S, Up, A. Unfortunately the alternative weapons don’t seem to be implemented in this version of the game, though.

On an Xbox controller, the code is Up, X, Right, Y, Down, White, Left, Y, Up, X. Again though, the alternative weapons don’t seem to be implemented in this version of the game.

Note: This code has been reported as an “infinite credits” cheat in several places, but it doesn’t seem to give you infinite credits in the Japanese Saturn, PAL Saturn, PC or Xbox versions of the game, at least.

Episode 0[]

Locking on to numerous enemies in Episode 0.

If you enter the code Up, Up, Up, Down, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right, L, R at the main menu, you’ll immediately begin Episode 0. In this extra level your health constantly drains away, putting you on a time limit, but destroying enemies will help replenish your health bar and keep you going. It seems that the aim of Episode 0 is to achieve as high a score as possible before you die, and your score is displayed at the top of the screen; it increases depending on how long you survive, and it also increases when you destroy enemies, which appear ahead of you in wave after wave.

Each enemy can be destroyed with a single shot, regardless of how strong it is in the main game, and as soon as all the enemies in one wave are gone another wave will appear. Oddly enough, you can only use the A button to fire during this episode, and you can’t use X, Y or Z to switch between different viewpoints either.

On a PC keyboard, the code is Up, Up, Up, Down, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right, Z, C.

Note: Episode 0 runs at “Wizard Mode” speed by default in most versions of the game, but it only runs at normal speed in the PAL Saturn version (where Wizard Mode was removed).

Episode Select[]

At the main menu, enter the code Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, X, Y, Z. You’ll be presented with a menu that lets you choose which Episode to start at.

On a PC keyboard, the code is Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, A, S, D.

On an Xbox controller, the code is Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, X, Y, White.

Invincible Mode (Scenic Mode)[]

At the main menu, enter the code L, L, R, R, Up, Down, Left, Right. The words “Invincible Mode” or “Scenic Mode” will appear below the title, depending on which version of the game you’re playing; you’ll now be invincible during gameplay.

On a PC keyboard, the code is Z, Z, C, C, Up, Down, Left, Right.

Wizard Mode[]

At the main menu, enter the code L, R, L, R, Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right. The words “Wizard Mode” should appear below the title, and the game will now run significantly faster than normal.

Note: Unfortunately Wizard Mode doesn’t exist in the PAL Saturn version of the game, and it doesn’t appear to be functional in the PC version of the game either.

Rolling Mode[]

At the main menu, enter the code Up, Right, Down, Left, Up, Right, Down, Left, Up, Right, Down, Left, Up. The words “Rolling Mode” should appear below the title, and you’ll now be able to perform the “rolling attack” regardless of how much health you have remaining.

Play as Only the Rider[]

Oddly enough, your Saturn’s language must be set to German (Deutsch) for this cheat to work; you can change it in the console’s System Settings menu, which you can reach by turning the Saturn on with no game inserted. When that’s sorted out, the code you’ll need to enter at the main menu is Up, X, Right, X, Down, X, Left, X, Up, Y, Z; this cheat lets you play as an oversized rider without a dragon, which has earned it the nickname “Space Harrier Mode”.

On a PC keyboard, the code is Up, A, Right, A, Down, A, Left, A, Up, S, D. The language change only applies to the Saturn version of the game.

On an Xbox controller, the code is Up, X, Right, X, Down, X, Left, X, Up, Y, White. Again, the language change doesn’t apply to this version of the game.

Note: The rider can actually fire his own homing lasers in some versions of the game, although he isn’t able to in others.

Watch the Ending Sequence[]

At the main menu, enter the code Up, Up, Down, Up, Right, Right, Left, Right, Down, Down, Up, Down, Left, Left, Right, Left. You’ll immediately be shown the game’s ending sequence and credits.

Watch the Final “Congratulations” Message[]

At the main menu, enter the code Up, Up, Down, Up, Left, Left, Right, Left, Down, Down, Up, Down, Right, Right, Left, Right. You’ll immediately be shown the game’s final “congratulations” message, which would normally be your reward for finishing Hard Mode.
