Ponta was the leader of the Wormriders, a tribe of people who lived in the Borderlands. He was referred to in Panzer Dragoon Orta as Elder Ponta. The Wormriders had learned to successfully domesticate different bio-engineered monsters, allowing them to live in seemingly inhospitable environments, and Ponta can be seen in Panzer Dragoon Orta riding his baldor in the sky above the Wormrider’s village, seated in a special chair. When one of the Wormriders, Mobo, introduced Orta to Ponta, Ponta asked her why she carried such hatred towards humanity and the world. It is unknown how Ponta was able to discern this so easily, even though Orta had not said anything to him up to that point.

Answering his question, Orta told Ponta that she had been held captive by the Seekers for as long as she could remember, and that they had told her that she was not going to be released until she was needed for war. Mobo then offered to make Orta his wife, and Ponta laughed, telling Mobo that his three other wives would disagree with the idea. But Ponta agreed with Mobo’s intentions and invited Orta to stay with the Wormriders, an offer which she gladly accepted. He told Orta that the Wormriders had no chains that could imprison her in their village. It is unclear if he meant that the Wormriders literally did not possess any chains, or if he meant that no one in the village would try to imprison Orta.

Ponta makes no further appearances in Panzer Dragoon Orta, but the Wormriders did appear in the battle against the prototype dragonmares over the Imperial capital. Ponta may have been present in the battle, but this is not confirmed.
