Stratei Uramis was one of the older students at the Imperial Academy, where he and the other students (including Iva) were being trained to become part of the military. During one of their training missions Stratei rescued Iva from the attack of a bio-monster, after which the two became friends. Once he learned about Iva’s reasons to join the Imperial Academy, he told Iva he shouldn’t blame himself for his father’s death. Instead, he told Iva it was the “Dragon of Destruction” and its rider who were to blame for his father’s death, and the death of many other Imperials.
When the older students were sent into the Arad desert to retrieve “valuable research material”, rumors began to spread that the true objective of this mission was to retrieve the Dragon of Destruction and its rider. Upon hearing this news, Iva sneaked aboard Stratei’s ship, hoping to see the dragon with his own eyes.
Stratei was not pleased when he discovered that Iva was aboard his ship, but as the mission was already underway returning to the base was not an option. He decided to give his armor to Iva, as he thought Iva could use it more than he could. When the Wormriders attacked the squadron, Stratei even let Iva take the controls of the ship. To his surprise, Iva actually seemed to know which direction the bio-monsters were coming from before they were even in visual range. When he asked Iva how he spotted the bio-monsters so quickly, Iva couldn’t explain.
Shortly after the battle with the Wormriders, Orta and her dragon attacked the squadron. Although the students had won the battle with the Wormriders without suffering any casualties, they had no hopes of defending themselves against a dragon, the ultimate weapon from the Ancient Age. Iva and Stratei could only watch helplessly as the other students were being shot down one by one by Orta and her dragon. Eventually they were the only ones remaining, and when the dragon launched one well-aimed laser at their ship it instantly crashed into the ground. Stratei was found dead by the Seekers who found the wreckage, but Iva survived the crash, perhaps in no small part due to Stratei’s decision to give Iva his own armor.
